Managing The Effects of Oppression

Oppressive people can seriously affect your health. The damage bullying can cause does not stop at physical scars. It can cut to our very core and begin us on a downward spiral of health problems. Being bullied at any age can have long-term negative effects. You may have little control over your oppressor, but you do have the ability to take back control of your body and soul. You can remove negative thoughts that plague the suffering mind and use a holistic approach to learn to love yourself and discover the real you. The you that does not allow another to be the one that chooses the path you take. There are lots of things you can do to ensure that you take back the power bullies are so desperate to hold onto.

The effects of bullying on your body and soul

When you feel fearful, your body switches to its defence mode. It’s a physiological response, which sees your body fill with adrenaline, preparing you for an attack. Your heart will beat much faster than usual and these feelings caused by stress hormones may make you feel anxious and panicked. Usually this wears off quite quickly, but if you are suffering under the tyranny of a sustained campaign of bullying that goes on for many weeks, months, or even years; this can have devastating consequences. Bullying can directly affect a person’s health and well-being. You may find that you agonize over inflammatory aches and chronic pains. Pain that keeps doctors perplexed and which modern medicine can’t seem to heal. As you begin to get more depressed about the daily oppression you suffer, you may catch more colds and can’t seem to fight infections as easily as you used to.

Eating well and to overcome fear

The pain that you perceive is not just a manifestation of your imagination. Stress can cause all sorts of issues for the body. It can also create problems for our digestive system. Ensure that you eat from all of the food groups to give a good balance of nutrients to your body. Get out once a day and enjoy the energy of nature.

Stay well hydrated by keeping a bottle of fresh water by your side. Taking care of your body ensures that your soul is soothed too. Try to avoid acidic foods and enjoy a range of wholesome dishes that will help you keep calm under the pressure you face.

Mantra meditation to manage stress

Using Transcendental Meditation to positively influence your life has been proven by numerous studies. It is an easy form of meditation, and people that have experienced pain and fear often take great benefit from it. The feelings of euphoria one can experience when passing the threshold into transcendence can do wonders for the soul and hold healing powers.

Begin by choosing a mantra. Simply close your eyes, wait a few seconds, and then repeat your chosen mantra out loud. The next step is to begin whispering it. You then move onto repeating the mantra in your mind only. Eventually your mind will take over and repeat the mantra itself. The mantra will then disappear, and you are left in a total transcendent state of silence.

If you are experiencing the hardship of bullying it is better to deal with it as soon as possible. Until the situation is resolved, ensure you look after yourself and keep on top of your mental and physical health. The stronger you are in yourself, the harder it is for anyone to try to bring you down.
