Most of us have a morning ritual, whether it is by habit or choice. The start of your morning is what you make of it, and your decision can make or break your day.

There are two significant types of morning rituals.

Are you one of the people with less good habits, do you snooze your alarm more than once. Cannot decide on what to wear? ((Your wardrobe is practically all on the bed)) By the time you get dressed all your clothes are on your bed? Planning breakfast and lunch is non-existent.

Rituals applied by successful CEO’s, sportsman and entrepreneurs look a little different. Herewith six rituals to point you in the right direction. Feel empowered and organized and ensure a good day.

Step 1

This step starts the previous day with preparations for the next day. This will ensure that you have planned your ritual and have everything ready for the next day. It might mean that you have put aside your clothes to wear, decided what you are having for breakfast and pack your lunch for the next day. You will feel empowered and positive for ending the day so well organized with little or no worries for the next day. This step might also include the most critical tasks for the next day. I am a firm believer to do the things you like the least first. Get them out of the way, and you don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day.

Step 2

To get up and out of bed might be the day’s most significant challenge for you. Time to wake up depends on your situation. Waking up early is proven to reduce stress levels, no need to rush starting your day off with excitement. Try to take advantage of the peace of the early morning, listening to the birds chirping, and the fresh air will ensure the start of a beautiful day.

Step 3

You have been without water for 6 to 8 hours, so start the re-hydration process with a glass of warm water and add a little bit of lemon to help you get your digestive system moving. Lemon is a good source of vitamin C and supports weight loss.

Step 4

Although a night time shower is essential to remove makeup, dirt, and pollution from your skin, it also ensures the quality of your sleep. Showering in the morning wakes you up and according to research can boost your creativity. A morning shower gives you “ME” time, time to plan your day or to meditate, showering yourself with mindfulness. Cold showers are also known to reduce depression.

Step 5

Bacteria built up in the mouth overnight causing bad breath and produces acid that wears away your enamel on your teeth. As recommended by a dentist you should brush your teeth for 2 minutes, and your mouth will stay clean throughout the day. Bacteria grow on your tongue and hides in the cracks. Benefits of scraping or brushing remove these bacteria, ensure a better breath and enhance your taste improving the overall health of your mouth.

Breakfast is definitely the most significant meal of the day, and it sets the tone of the day, increasing metabolism, maintaining blood glucose levels and promotes weight maintenance.

Changing habits take time, discipline and a lot of hard work. A study showed that on average it takes 66 days to adopt a new behavior. Don’t judge yourselves if you cannot master the change, embrace the walk to greatness.
